Bella Hadid goes commando in her lace-up birthday dress

It was Bella Hadid‘s birthday on Monday, and the day looked just as fabulous as you’d imagine a supermodel’s 21st birthday to be.

Captured en route to her festivities in New York City, she wore a chic black satin dress by Dolce & Gabbana. Deceivingly simple, the dress featured lace-up detail from neckline to hem, making it just special enough for a big evening. Bella kept accessories minimal with a subtle gold necklace and strappy black sandals.

She stepped out with big sis Gigi and their mother Yolanda, both fashion icons their own right. Gigi wore a striking baby blue jumper with matching jacket and pumps, letting her sister have the spotlight of a birthday LBD. Yolanda kept her look simple, in a black turtleneck and cropped black slacks.

 

Plenty of friends and family took to Instagram to shout out Bella on her special day, starting with Bella herself. Her butt selfie may eventually disappear from Instagram stories, but we’ll always know that she started her 21st bday with her behind to the world.

Gigi, Yolanda, and brother Anwar Hadid all shouted out their girl on Instagram with sweet family photos. “You know I’ve been trying to protect u from the world since day one, and 21 years later u comfort and inspire me more than you’ll ever know,” wrote Gigi.

“You are a mirror and teacher off all things fair and equal. I admire your ability to always see the good in everything and everyone,” wrote Yolanda alongside a photo of her throwing baby Bella into the air.

She also shared a bathing suit photo of the model as a 2-year-old, in which she calls her daughter a #LimitedEdition.

Kendall Jenner also shared an artsy shot of her BFF.

Jesse Jo Stark also shared a photo of “a special night” for her and Bella. Maybe now that she can legally drink, Bella will quit smoking — or at least stop posting cigarette-filled photos to her impressionable Instagram followers.

If the sparkles (and the fashion) are any indication, Bella’s birthday was definitely a success.
