There’s a rumor going around town (town = Buckingham Palace) that Prince Charles is upset because his nieces, Princesses Eugenie and Beatrice, want to have…wait for it…careers. Oh, and a rumor that he and Prince Andrew are in some kind of dramatic “prince feud” about the princesses’ royal duties. However, this could not be further from the truth, and Prince Andrew even issued a highly progressive statement supporting the career aspirations of his daughters (FYI Eugenie is an associate art gallery director and Beatrice has a startup):
“As a father, my wish for my daughters is for them to be modern working young women, who happen to be members of the royal family, and I am delighted to see them building their careers,” Prince Andrew said in a statement. “When they do support the Royal Family in its work, this is very much appreciated by my family and, most importantly, by those organizations and to those for whom their participation makes such a difference to their lives…I cannot continue to stand by and have the media speculate on their futures based on my purported interventions, which are completely made up and an invention.”
In case you’re wondering, the royal family has a pretty solid track record of encouraging its female members to slay. See: The Queen.
