How Cardi B and Fashion Nova CARES Are Taking Their Partnership to the Next Level for Coronavirus Relief

As the world reels from the tremendous financial crush of the coronavirus, fashion retailers large and small are taking a huge hit from lackluster sales as some people no longer have the money to buy the hottest new bag or curve-hugging skirt. But for celebrity rapper and fashionista Cardi B and hyper-popular style label Fashion Nova,  it’s the perfect time to spread the wealth and help those in need.

In grand fashion befitting of the style queen she is, Cardi B recently announced that she was partnering with Fashion Nova to give away a total of $1 million to people struggling to pay the rent, bills or even just buy food. Named Fashion Nova CARES, this new charity is cutting through potential red tape of the government stimulus package and giving money directly to the people.

In her Instagram account, she told her massive group of followers — close to 63 million users of them — that she is working directly with the fashion label to give away the money:

“Many of you are struggling to pay bills, feed your families, and take care of your overall essential needs. #FashionNovaCARES & I are giving away $1,000 EVERY HOUR until we’ve given away $1 MILLION DOLLARS to those directly affected by this crisis,” she stated. ”Tell us how the $1,000 can help you during these times.”

The giveaway aligns with Cardi B and the label’s values, which is to make well-tailored, trendy and high fashion clothing, accessories and more available to people who may not be able to afford to spend thousands of dollars on haute couture or custom pieces.

Since Fashion Nova was founded, the label has prided itself on delivering the clothing you’d see in top fashion houses without premium pricing. An online store without the heavy burden of running brick and mortar shops, Fashion Nova relies on a bright and modern website — as well as Instagram — to reach its audience. The company is 100% determined to serve its audience, and even offers 24/7 customer service.

Another element of the label is the Pay Later with Quadpay option. With the Quadpay option, qualified shoppers who find something they love in the Fashion Nova store pay 25% up-front, get their order, and pay for the rest across three different payments. Fashion Nova also allows customers to pay with credit cards, Apple Pay, and even Amazon payments.

Cardi B teamed up with Fashion Nova several years ago to launch her first line of body-contouring fashion. While Fashion Nova had a solid following at this point due to its body positive and affordable tops, dresses and more, Cardi B’s first collection in 2018 was a runaway hit. By the time Cardi B launched her second collection with the label last year, fans were more than hooked.

In just 24 hours, more than half of the line of 100+ pieces, inspired by the 1980s and 1990s, sold out. In that one day, Fashion Nova pulled in $1 million in sales just on Cardi B’s collection alone.

But the label wasn’t about to be caught flat-footed after the success of Cardi B’s inaugural line the previous year. Instead, the execs at Fashion Nova anticipated that Cardi B’s fashion forward line of everything from fierce belted dresses to cozy, shape-hugging sweaters would sell out like crazy, so they held onto 5X the amount of clothing normally in stock to sell right away.

With Fashion Nova CARES and Cardi B as the face of the giveaway, numerous consumers are paying extra attention to the fashion house and its muse.

Cardi B has recently used her power as an influencer to reach out to people who may not be courted by local or national governments. Recently, she recorded a video encouraging minorities to stand up and be counted in the US census. A long-time advocate for immigrants, she addressed the citizenship question (since removed from the census) to help her audience decide to make their voices heard.

As part of Fashion Nova CARES, Cardi B will be personally searching the Instagram accounts of users who ask for the $1,000 per hour prize to see who needs the money most. The outspoken and down-to-earth Bronx native made it clear in her post that the money was to go to those really down on their luck, not to those who want to loan money to their boyfriends.

Since Cardi B and Fashion Nova CARES was launched, there’s been an avalanche of people telling Cardi B their stories on her Instagram page. From pregnant women who are showing Coronavirus symptoms to people suffering from tremendous pain after losing family members to COVID-19, Cardi B and Fashion Nova will have no shortage of people to give $1000 to.
