Here’s why you never see the prince with bling on his ring finger.

Avid royal watchers have noticed that William never wears bling but it turns out it’s just not his style.
Speaking to Time magazine just before the royal wedding of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, a royal spokesperson said William had decided to go against tradition.
“It is simply down to personal preference,” the royal aide said.
“It was something the couple discussed but Prince William isn’t one for jewelry.”

William isn’t alone in his choice to keep his hand free of any jewelry as his grandfather, Prince Philip, who married Queen Elizabeth in 1947, also chooses to not wear a ring.
Considering men’s wedding rings only came into fashion in the mid 20th century, it wouldn’t have been considered fashionable back when the duo wed.
Men apparently started wearing wedding rings back in the world wars as a way of remembering their wives back at home.

Prince William’s father, Prince Charles, now wears a gold signet ring after marrying Camilla in 2006.
Likewise, Prince Andrew also wore a gold band on his pinky finger before his divorce from Sarah Ferguson was finalised.
