Diddy’s 50th birthday was an unexpectedly grand night for celebrity fashion. In addition to Kim Kardashian’s vintage wedding gown, plus Khloé and Kylie Jenner’s matching sequin numbers, it seems Beyoncé also went all-out, opting for a NSFW evening dress.
So what exactly makes it ‘NSFW’, you ask?
Well, quite simply, the dress has a split that starts above Bey’s hip, meaning it’s equal parts fire and at risk of a potentially catastrophic wardrobe malfunction. What can we say? Bey’s always been a brave dresser and this is one of her fiercest looks yet.
The black velvet dress features breathtaking floral embellishment around the strapless neckline and waist, matching her generous lashings of bling, and comes complete with a pair of matching elbow-high gloves, oozing pure elegance.

All this is perfectly contrasted with the incredibly bold split. In fact, the split is so high it looks like the kind of cut we’re used to seeing on Baywatch-era swimsuits (or, should we say, Beywatch?).

Beyoncé’s love for the hip-high split is nothing new, with the singer wearing similar styles for the majority of her most recent events and we’re big fans.

Fun fact: Beyoncé actually employed a clever wardrobe hack for this dress to ensure that her ~revealing~ outfit was suitably ‘appropriate’ for a royal meeting.
Then there’s this stunning deep crimson situation, with another killer split:

More recently, B’s also repped yet another similar style, this time in a gold colour palette and complete with a feather detailed neckline:

Beyoncé’s clearly a fan of the mantra ‘if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it’ because, she’s clearly found a dress style that she loves, so she’s proceeding to wear it in every material and colour combo available – something we can totally relate to.
