A shopper in Melbourne has claimed she was physically assaulted and called a “stupid Asian b***h” by a manager of a popular clothing store.
Jaya Li-Nguyen said she was racially abused by a YD shopping assistant on Thursday night after being told not to touch a pile of t-shirts as they were hard to fold.
Ms Jaya posted a complaint to YD’s Facebook page.
It read: “I walked in and picked up one folded t-shirt from the table to check out the style, and was told by your shop assistant, “Do not touch the pile, it’s REALLY HARD to fold the clothes, tell me which size you want and I will get it.
“I told her I wanted to check out the styles.”
“As soon as I picked up the second t-shirt to have a look, she stopped me again, I asked her if I have the rights to browse as a customer, she demanded me to leave and she is the manager of the store, I then asked for your manager’s name, she refused to provide me with her name, and told me “make a complaint if you want, LEAVE NOW YOU STUPID ASIAN B***H!”
“I was totally shocked, what kind of rude, indecent and RACIST customer service did I just experience from this well known company?!”
Ms Jaya claimed the YD store manager then allegedly assaulted her as she tried to take a photo of the shopfront.

“Your store manager came running outside the shop towards me, tried to grab my phone, then she grabbed my wrists and tried to twist them and yelled ‘You are under arrest’, I had to scream for help.”, Ms Jaya’s complaint read.
“She saw people gathering up and she just pushed me and yelled ‘leave’.
“I was in tears and shaking.
“How can a store manager from such a reputable, well known store like YD provide such shocking customer service and assault me like that?!”
The clothing chain told reporters the staff member was suspended with pay pending an investigation by human resources, according to the Daily Mail.
