Pete Davidson Broke His Social Media Silence to Flirt With Ariana Grande

Just months after he announced a break from social media, Pete Davidson is back. Well, to be fair, he’s popped up on Instagram every once in a while since going on his break—like to promote Saturday Night Live—but this latest reemergence is one for the books.

Davidson kicked off his latest (extremely brief) return to social media on Sunday evening (September 30), when he liked two of his fiancée’s recent posts, then commented on one, a selfie, with, “hot. all the ones you posted with me not online are hot. love ya. bye for another 3 months.” In response, Ari wrote, “good thing ur sitting next to me and i see u every second and nothing important happens online that i don’t show u anyway. bye. ily.” Sometimes it’s easier to say things over text than in person, ya know?

Next up, Davidson, whose IG bio currently reads “account run by someone else,” posted a pic of his own. It’s a blurry Polaroid of himself, alongside the inexplicable caption “hooray romano.” Almost immediately, Grande returned the flirty favor, commenting, “where the mixtape,” followed by “this is sick and ur page looks cool never post again,” advice that Davidson will likely follow for at least a few more weeks.

In July, Davidson deleted all of his Instagram posts, then took to his Story to explain his decision and announce a hiatus. “No there’s nothing wrong. no nothing happened. no there’s nothing cryptic about anything. i just don’t wanna be on Instagram anymore. or on any social media platform. the internet is an evil place and it doesn’t make me feel good. why should i spend any time on negative energy when my real life is f*cking lit. the fact that i even have to say this proves my point. i love you all and i’m sure i’ll be back at some point. 🙂 your neighborhood goon, pete,” he wrote.
