Jamie Lynn Spears gives latest update on Britney

The Spears family is trying to make the best of 2020.

Jamie Lynn Spears (virtually) stopped by Good Morning America on Thursday where the 29-year-old actress said she’s cherishing the time spent with family amid the coronavirus pandemic.

“The circumstances suck, you don’t want any type of pandemic to ever happen, but I will say the one thing that I’ve taken away from it — I was able to have this quality time with my family and with my children guilt-free,” the mother of two shared.

Jamie Lynn is promoting the new version of “Follow Me,” the Zoey 101 theme song she wrote and recorded alongside Britney Spears in 2004. The Sweet Magnolias star was asked about her big sister amid the #FreeBritney movement.

“A lot of fans are speaking out in support of your big sister Britney,” said co-anchor Michael Strahan. “What would you like to say to everyone who’s wondering how she’s doing now?”

“I think that she’s doing just like the rest of us,” Jamie Lynn replied. “She’s trying to make the best and stay positive during a very challenging time and challenging year, and I think that that’s kind of the theme of everyone right now.”

Britney is locked in a legal battle against her father, Jamie Spears, over her conservatorship. The iconic pop singer, 38, is seeking to have him removed after 12 years. Earlier this month, she scored a minor victory as a judge ruled she will be allowed to expand her team of attorneys.

The #FreeBritney movement was launched as fans fear she’s essentially being held captive in her conservatorship. Britney’s social media is at the center of it as some people believe it’s filled with coded cries for help. (If she wears yellow, for example, it’s a signal.) The fact Britney, who is quite active on Instagram, hasn’t shared a post in over a week is currently causing concern among fans.

Jamie Lynn, who is in control of Britney’s multi-million fortune, often defends her sister. Over the summer, someone commented about Britney’s “OBVIOUS mental illness” on Instagram causing the actress to fire back.

“You have no right to assume anything about my sister, and I have NO right to speak about HER health and personal matters. She is a strong, badass, unstoppable woman, and that’s the only thing that is OBVIOUS,” Jamie Lynn replied.

Another Instagram user commented that the family needs “to speak out and clarify all these assumptions.”

“I would never speak out just to clarify things to the public, when the person it pertains to does not want that to happen. I’d rather take all the hate, then speak about someone elses [sic] personal matter, that they want to keep private,” Jamie Lynn wrote.
