You may or may not have noticed the fact that celebs often appear in shoes one size too big.
Hollywood stars can’t hide on the red carpet, and they’re papped in some of the finest footwear around. But usually, their shoes are a little too long, perhaps a touch too wide.
There’s a good reason why. The fact that it’s usually at awards parties in which celebs are particularly pictured in fancy attire is a big hint. These things go on for a long time, and the red carpet is a tiring exercise.
Wearing over-sized shoes helps prevent blisters. They also help stop feet from swelling.
The point was first made by Brightside , which explained that because celebs have to spend hours on their feet, they often opt for a size up from their regular choice. This is – and this is contentious, yes – particularly evident with female celebs, who have the added irritation of high heels.
Indeed, larger-sized heels won’t rub or pinch. The shoes are kept from slipping off the feet by stylists inserting silicone pads or double-sided tape inside.
