Video: Speeding drink-driver ploughs into couple as they share kiss in the street tragically killing one

A speeding drink-driver ploughed into a couple as they shared a kiss in the street, killing one of them.

CCTV footage shows the lovers initially apparently quarrelling in the middle of a road in the early hours of the morning.

The woman appears to try to get away from her boyfriend before he chases her into the street and the two share a long kiss.

Some drivers are able to avoid the couple but one – named Zhang – slams into them at speed.

Harrowing footage shows the man and woman being tossed into the air like rag dolls as the drink-driver speeds off.

The fatal accident happened on the streets of Heze City in East China’s Shandong Province at around 3am.

Zhang did not stop and continued driving until he was eventually caught by authorities several hours later.

Passing drivers called the police and arriving paramedics rushed both victims to hospital.

One of them is said to have died after failed attempts to revive them, but reports did not elaborate on whether the man or the woman survived.

The police confirmed that Zhang tested well over the legal drinking limit and now faces manslaughter charges as well as punishment for fleeing the crime scene.
