The Suits actress sparks more speculation that a royal engagement is on the cards
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are “in love” and “really happy”, she’s revealed in her first interview about their relationship.
The Suits actress, 36, told Vanity Fair that the couple are enjoying their time together in private and even managed to keep their romance secret for the first six months.
Admitting that she refers to Harry as her “boyfriend”, the actress gushed over their relationship and said: “We’re a couple. We’re in love.”
She went on: “I’m sure there will be a time when we will have to come forward and present ourselves and have stories to tell, but I hope what people will understand is that this is our time. This is for us.
“It’s part of what makes it so special, that it’s just ours. But we’re happy. Personally, I love a great love story.”
The pair have been officially dating since last October and are thought to have started seeing each other in June 2016.
They met through mutual friends at a charity event and have been together ever since, spending time together in Harry’s London palace and at Meghan’s place in Toronto.
When asked about how it’s felt to be dating a royal – and arguably one of the most eligible bachelors on the planet – Meghan confessed that it comes with challenges.
“It comes in waves – some days it can feel more challenging than others,” she said.
“And right out of the gate it was surprising the way things changed. But I still have this support system all around me, and, of course, my boyfriend’s support.”
And when she was questioned on the media frenzy surrounding their relationship, she revealed she keeps a level head.
“I can tell you that at the end of the day I think it’s really simple. We’re two people who are really happy and in love,” Meghan went on.

“I was working during that whole time, and the only thing that changed was people’s perception.”
It’s likely that Meghan’s in-depth talk about her relationship will only add to the rumour mill about the next stage of their romance.
Already talk has turned to the next royal engagement, with Ladbrokes confirming today that all bets on Harry proposing to Meghan this year have been suspended.
If they take the next step and decide to wed, Meghan will be the first American to marry into the royal family since Edward Simpson abdicated the throne to be with Wallis Simpson 80 years ago.
