Former Bachelor Matty \u2018J\u2019 Johnson\u00a0has called out the sexism women face in Australian media, saying he thinks \u201cwe can do better\u201d.<\/p>\n
The 34-year-old took to social media on Friday to criticise a specific news headline about\u00a0his wife Laura Byrne and friend Brittany Hockley, who host the very popular podcast, Life Uncut.<\/p>\n
The duo\u00a0won the Listeners Choice award at the Australian Podcast Awards\u00a0this week, although Matty was displeased with how it had been covered in the media.<\/p>\n
He shared a video online pointing out the headline: \u2018Life Uncut stars Laura Byrne and Brittany Hockley get upstaged by a very handsome Matty J at the Australian Podcast Awards\u2019.<\/p>\n
\u201cInitially, I was quite flattered, especially because it\u2019s a pretty shit photo of me.\u201d he began.<\/p>\n
\u201cBut then I thought, what a shame. This came out just after the girls had won the People\u2019s Choice award for the most popular podcast in all of Australia.<\/p>\n
“What an incredible achievement, and yet, this is the headline they get. I just think it was a perfect example of the sexism that women have to face by Australian media, and I just think we can do better.\u201d<\/p>\n
