Well, that\u2019s not the best fashion statement.<\/p>\n

Luxury French fashion house\u00a0Givenchy\u00a0is being blasted for debuting a noose-style necklace during Paris fashion week.<\/p>\n

A model wore the offending piece of jewelry Sunday during the label\u2019s spring\/summer 2022 show.<\/p>\n

The unfortunate style choice was first called out by the\u00a0Instagram account Diet Prada.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou\u2019d think the industry would\u2019ve learned not to put things that resemble nooses around a model\u2019s neck after the whole @Burberry noose hoodie debacle in 2019. This @givenchyofficial necklace that just came down the runway steers dangerously close to that same territory. Really makes you wonder how no one noticed, but alas \u2026 history repeats itself,\u201d the account wrote alongside a side-by-side photo of the Givenchy runway model and a Burberry model.<\/p>\n

In 2019,\u00a0Burberry was criticized\u00a0during London fashion week\u00a0for a catwalk model wearing a noose embossed on a hoodie.<\/p>\n

Users shared their thoughts on Givenchy\u2019s choice of jewelry and blasted them for their design. \u201cHonestly in which world having a noose hanging on a girl\u2019s neck is fashion, #Givenchy? Spring\/Summer 2022 dragged way back to 1822. Do better,\u201d one\u00a0wrote<\/a>\u00a0on Twitter. \u201cYoung girls & guys don\u2019t need to see this at any stage, especially #ParisFashionWeek.\u201d<\/p>\n\n

\u201cGivenchy shows a \u2018noose necklace\u2019 in its Paris Fashion Week show. I guess a swastika, or a model carrying a gun, or wearing a white hood, were all too edgy,\u201d another person\u00a0added.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s not the first time the fashion world put its foot in its mouth. In 2018, Prada had to pull some of its products after they were\u00a0deemed racist\u00a0and depicted \u201cblackface.\u201d<\/p>\n

Tansy Hoskins, author of \u201cStitched Up,\u201d\u00a0theorized to The Post in 2019 why the\u00a0industry has issues with racism. \u201cThe fashion industry has a huge problem with racism \u2026 going back to the foundation of these brands,\u201d Hoskins said. For example, she explained, the 1940s showed Chanel and Dior cooperating with the Nazi and Vichy governments, respectively.<\/p>\n
