Just in time for Halloween, horror industry sex symbol Elvira, Mistress of the Dark, has proved she still has a few new tricks up her long black sleeves.<\/p>\n
Cassandra Peterson, the woman behind the legend of Elvira, had more to say about her newly revealed, long-time romance with partner Teresa \u201cT\u201d Wierson \u2014 news that shook fans, who for decades had no idea the actor is queer.<\/p>\n
The 70-year-old\u00a0appeared on\u00a0\u201cThe Tamron Hall Show\u201d on Thursday following the release of her new memoir,\u00a0\u201cYours Cruelly, Elvira: Memoirs of the Mistress of the Dark\u201d\u00a0(Hachette) and host Hall asked the icon why \u2014 now, in 2021 \u2014 would Peterson\u2019s sexuality be trending news.<\/p>\n
\u201cI think it\u2019s because the character I play. Obviously I appeal to men,\u201d Peterson observed.<\/p>\n
Elvira, who has appeared in a number of films, advertisements and even been adapted as a comic book character, is idolized by a cult following of horror fans for her sardonic wit, comedy and a blend of pin-up good looks with vampiric sex appeal.<\/p>\n
As she explained to Hall\u2019s viewers, \u201cIt\u2019s a super sexy character \u2014 that\u2019s \u2018straight,\u2019 because she\u2019s a bit of a horndog, she\u2019s always chasing guys.\u201d<\/p>\n
Days after shocking the world with news of her relationship, Peterson said her coming out has been a load off so far.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s scary and exciting, but also I\u2019m very relieved, and so is my partner,\u201d she told Hall, then quipped, \u201cHolding in secrets all the time, you know, it gives you gas.\u201d<\/p>\n
To his credit, Peterson quoted her friend, actor Danny Trejo, who once mused to her, \u201cYou\u2019re only as sick as your secrets.\u201d<\/p>\n\n
As\u00a0The Post reported, Peterson confessed that she\u2019d kept her 19-year relationship a secret for so long \u2014 telling only close family and friends \u2014 for fear that fans wouldn\u2019t accept her true identity.<\/p>\n
