Suddenly sedentary \u2014 and plied with her mom\u2019s homemade pasta and tacos \u2014 she noticed she was gaining weight.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI felt constantly bloated, I was having trouble sleeping, [and] my breathing was a lot heavier,\u201d she recalls. In just three months, she packed on an extra 10 pounds, and by August the 5\u20198\u201d Vizard weighed 184 pounds.<\/p>\n<div class=\"e3lan e3lan-in-post1\"><\/div>\n<p>\u201cI was just feeling really gross without really knowing how to fix it,\u201d she says. So she\u00a0visited Dr. Charles Passler\u00a0\u2014 the nutritionist guru to supermodels\u00a0Bella Hadid\u00a0and Adriana Lima, as well as stars Naomi Watts and Liev Schreiber, whom he helps keep trim, alert and strong. Passler devised a plan that would not only help Vizard shed extra pounds, but give her a complete lifestyle overhaul.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe really gave me the motivation to [change my habits],\u201d Vizard says. \u201cIt was about losing weight and changing my diet, but also [about] getting into a more positive mindset.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Since that first visit, in August, Vizard has lost nearly 50 pounds. She\u2019s done this not only by adopting a plant-based diet (and eliminating processed foods and alcohol), but also adhering to a strict sleep schedule and doing yoga or light cardio for 20 to 30 minutes four to five days a week.<\/p>\n<p>Passler tells Alexa that his approach to nutrition is holistic. He looks not only at diet but also stress management, sleep, breathing, exercise and hydration \u2014 all factors in determining health and weight \u2014 and works with clients on their own personalized plan to fit their needs.<\/p>\n\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-71091\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thefastfashion.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/Naomi-Watts.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"682\" height=\"1023\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.thefastfashion.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/Naomi-Watts.jpg 682w, https:\/\/www.thefastfashion.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/Naomi-Watts-200x300.jpg 200w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 682px) 100vw, 682px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s about lifestyle,\u201d he says. \u201cIt\u2019s not about, \u2018Go see Dr. P. and get ready for your wedding.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Passler starts his new patients with an elimination program \u2014 cutting out all meat, caffeine, processed sugar, grains and dairy, as well as alcohol \u2014 for the first week or so to detox. He recommends a plant-based, nutrient-dense, calorie-dilute, low-fat diet. Stay informed with\u00a0<em>travel news<\/em>\u00a0and\u00a0<em>updates<\/em><\/li>\r\n \t\r\n<\/ul>\r\n\r\n<\/div>\n<p>Passler also works with patients to develop an exercise regiment (a combination of high-intensity interval training, some kind of light stretching \u2014 like yoga \u2014 and walking) and a set sleep schedule. \u201cYou lose the majority of weight when you\u2019re sleeping,\u201d he says, recommending seven to eight hours. \u201cIf you aren\u2019t sleeping, you aren\u2019t losing weight.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He also works with them on their breathing \u2014 slowing down and deepening their breath by using a biofeedback monitor, which measures a client\u2019s respiration rate.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen people breathe correctly, they heal better, they burn more fat, they feel better, they\u2019re calmer \u2014 the whole thing,\u201d Passler explains.<\/p>\n<p>Vizard for one feels a lot better: She no longer wakes up in the middle of the night, loses her breath when she\u2019s exercising or craves sugar or baked goods. She weighs 140 pounds and feels great.<\/p>\n<p>There have been hiccups: \u201cI did cheat a little during the holidays,\u201d she says. \u201cAnd keeping that strict sleep schedule has been harder now that I\u2019m back in school. \u2026 But otherwise, it\u2019s been surprisingly easy to maintain [this lifestyle].\u201d<\/p>\n<p>And she seems to enjoy it. When she visits her family now, she and her mom test out new vegan recipes \u2014 and she\u2019s really fallen in love with vegetables. \u201cI had never roasted squash before, but oh my God, it is so good,\u201d she says.<\/p>\n<p>She\u2019s also cut back on oil. \u201cOne trick Dr. Passler taught me was to use a little bit of oil to start off a saute and then add vegetable stock to keep it going.
