Jennifer Aniston was a style inspiration for Mariah Carey.<\/p>\n

The five-time Grammy award winner revealed\u00a0Aniston\u2019s famous haircut\u00a0from \u201cFriends\u201d encouraged her to try the bouncy look for herself.<\/p>\n

In a Flashback Friday post she shared to Instagram, Carey wrote: \u201c#FBF A sad attempt at the Rachel hairdo #friends.\u201d<\/p>\n

However, Carey\u2019s voluminous side-swept bang and high ponytail received a stamp of approval from Aniston on Saturday.<\/p>\n

\u201cLOVE IT,\u201d Aniston commented under the image along with a fire emoji.<\/p>\n

While the hairstyle Carey sported in her photo is not an exact haircut Aniston had when she played Rachel Green in the second season of \u201cFriends,\u201d it had visual similarities.<\/p>\n

The second season was notably the peak\u00a0of the series\u00a0with 29.4 million viewers on average, according to archived Nielsen data.<\/p>\n

During this time, Aniston\u2019s haircut became known as \u201cThe Rachel\u201d and grew to become a popular hairstyle that celebrities and everyday women would request in the late 90s,\u00a0Biography.com reports.<\/p>\n

Although Aniston, 52, complimented Carey, 51, on her Rachel-inspired hairstyle, the actress has gone on record saying she didn\u2019t like the haircut on herself.<\/p>\n

\u201cI was not a fan of the \u2018Rachel.\u2019 That was kind of cringe-y for me,\u201d Aniston told\u00a0Glamour magazine in 2015. \u201cLooking back\u2014honestly, even during that time\u2014I couldn\u2019t do it on my own. I needed [my hairstylist] Chris [McMillan] attached to my hip. Left to my own devices, I am not skilled with a hairbrush and blow-dryer.\u201d<\/p>\n\n

In recent years, Aniston has mostly donned long and\u00a0sleek hairstyles\u00a0that have now become her new signature look.<\/p>\n
