Meghan Markle is setting the record straight in regard to\u00a0changes made to son Archie\u2019s birth certificate.<\/p>\n

In a statement Sunday to Page Six, a spokesperson for the Duchess of Sussex, 39, said the omission of her given name, \u201cRachel Meghan,\u201d to Archie\u2019s birth papers was a call made by The Palace.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe change of name on public documents in 2019 was dictated by The Palace, as confirmed by documents from senior Palace officials. This was not requested by Meghan, The Duchess of Sussex nor by The Duke of Sussex,\u201d the statement read.<\/p>\n

Over the weekend, an updated piece of Archie\u2019s birth certificate surfaced online,\u00a0with The UK\u2019s The Sun\u00a0highlighting the changes made to Markle\u2019s name. She\u2019s now listed as, \u201cHer Royal Highness The Duchess of Sussex,\u201d while Harry, 36, is regarded as, \u201cHis Royal Highness Prince Henry Charles Albert David Duke of Sussex.\u201d<\/p>\n

The changes were made in June 2019, a month after the birth of Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor.<\/p>\n\n

A spokesperson for Markle also slammed speculation the edits were a dig at sister-in-law Kate Middleton, who shares three young children with Harry\u2019s older brother, Prince William.<\/p>\n

The Sussexes, who have been married since 2018, stepped down as \u201csenior\u201d royals last January. They currently reside in California.<\/p>\n
