Hilaria isn\u2019t the only Baldwin to try on a new name.<\/p>\n

Alec Baldwin, born Alexander Rae Baldwin III, was called Alex and even Xandy \u2014 until he transferred to NYU in the late \u201970s and started going by the tonier \u201cAlec.\u201d<\/p>\n

As a student at Berner High School\u00a0in\u00a0Massapequa, Baldwin was listed as \u201cAlexander Baldwin\u201d in the yearbook. But he apparently went by the nickname Xandy, as one old pic shows he signed a pal Debbie\u2019s yearbook \u201cXandy Baldwin.\u201d<\/p>\n

The \u201c30 Rock\u201d star \u2014 whose wife\u00a0is embroiled in scandal\u00a0after she admitted being born in Boston as Hillary and not in Mallorca, Spain, as Hilaria \u2014 registered as Alex Baldwin when he began his undergrad studies at the George Washington University,\u00a0according to the GW Hatchet student newspaper.<\/p>\n

But the 62-year-old\u2019s time at GW didn\u2019t exactly go as planned. A political science major at the time, he lost the race for student government president and demanded a recount \u2014 but still lost. (It appears he and President Trump\u00a0have something in common after all.) So he promptly left the school \u2014 and \u201cAlex\u201d \u2014 behind.<\/p>\n

The Emmy winner did take an \u201cActing for Non-Majors\u201d\u00a0class while at GW, but once sniffed that the other students were \u201chorrible\u201d at the craft.<\/p>\n

\u201cAt GW, everyone in the class was really bad,\u201d he\u00a0quipped to the Hatchet in 2004. \u201cIf you could put a few polysyllabic words together, you were considered Laurence Olivier.\u201d<\/p>\n

After applying to New York University\u2019s acting program \u201con a whim,\u201d he auditioned and got accepted, joking: \u201cI [only got in because] I was the only guy large enough to pick up a girl in ballet class.\u201d<\/p>\n\n

Baldwin studied at NYU but\u00a0ended up leaving\u00a0four credits shy of graduating in 1980 \u2014 though he returned to get his degree in 1993.<\/p>\n

In recent days, the infamously hotheaded star has defended his 36-year-old wife amid her Spanish heritage scandal \u2014 and characteristically told one critic to \u201cGo f\u2013k yourself\u201d on social media.<\/p>\n

According to ABC News, Baldwin never actually changed his name to Alec, making his legal name still Alexander Rae Baldwin III.<\/p>\n
