Kate Bowen was the children\u2019s clothing designer who got <\/span>the call<\/em> <\/span>from Ivanka Trump: asking her to dress Trump\u2019s three kids in her brand, <\/span>Petit Peony, for the inauguration.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s really funny. Sometimes the stars just align for you,\u201d Bowen tells Yahoo Style, adding that \u201ceverything was custom-made\u201d for Arabella, Joseph, and Theodore. \u201c[Ivanka] is a customer, and Petit Peony has been featured on her <\/span>website. I had established a relationship with her. I didn\u2019t even really think at all I\u2019d be approached to do the inaugural designs.\u201d<\/p>\n

Bowen assumed Trump would want something more formal. \u201cMy dresses are high-end play dresses,\u201d she explains. \u201cIt\u2019s about being comfortably adorable. I typically try to stick with soft cottons.\u201d As it turns out, her approach to children\u2019s style is one that resonates with the public, as the Trump effect is proving to be similar to the Prince George effect, through which his <\/span>Rachel Riley <\/span>attire instantly sold out.<\/p>\n

\u201cPeople are emailing me asking about these coats and dresses and where to buy them and find them,\u201d Bowen says. \u201cI have to figure that part out. Our website hits have been off the charts. You can\u2019t plan for things like this.\u201d<\/p>\n

Since the clothes were custom-made for the Trump kids, Bowen is now selling a limited-edition <\/span>inauguration-inspired line, available for order on her site.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen she asked me [to do the custom designs], I was so excited. I was with my husband and my kids. I almost drove off the road,\u201d the designer recalls. \u201cI was able to Skype with her children and get exact measurements. I sent her sketches and ideas that I had. She sent me inspiration photos. That\u2019s how I put a proposal together.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n
