Jaimie Alexander is in talks to return to the Marvel Cinematic as the fan favorite Asgardian warrior Sif in \u201cThor: Love and Thunder,\u201d and may also make an appearance on the upcoming \u201cLoki\u201d Disney+ series, according to an individual with knowledge of the project.<\/p>\n

Alexander appeared as Sif, one of Thor\u2019s closest friends who, it\u2019s implied, carries a torch for him, in 2011\u2019s \u201cThor\u201d and 2013\u2019s \u201cThor: The Dark World.\u201d She didn\u2019t appear in \u201cThor: Ragnarok\u201d due to scheduling conflicts with her NBC show \u201cBlindspot.\u201d<\/p>\n

Of course, the plot of \u201cLove and Thunder\u201d and Sif\u2019s role in it are still under wraps, but we have an idea of what might happen. Bear with us for a second as we explains.<\/p>\n

Recall that in \u201cAvengers: Endgame,\u201d after the Avengers fail to undo The Snap and the story skips ahead 5 years, we learn that Thor (Chris Hemsworth) became consumed by depression and largely ignored his duties as the king of New Asgard. By the end he figured things out a bit and abdicated, handing the kingdom over to Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson) who was pretty much already running things in New Asgard anyway. Then Thor left Earth on a journey to parts unknown with the Guardians of the Galaxy.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile it\u2019s probably at least somewhat relevant that during the announcement of \u201cLove and Thunder\u201d at Comic-Con 2019, Thompson provided a crucial detail about Valkyrie\u2019s story. \u201cFirst of all, as a new king, she needs to find her queen. So that will be the first order of business,\u201d she told fans in Hall H.<\/p>\n

Point being, we think Lady Sif would make a pretty good Queen of Asgard.<\/p>\n\n

Alexander joins Academy Award Winner Christian Bale in \u201cThor: Love and Thunder,\u201d who as announced Thursday during Disney\u2019s investor call will play the villain Gorr the God Butcher.<\/p>\n

\u201cThor: Ragnarok\u201d director Taika Waititi is returning to helm \u201cLove and Thunder\u201d and co-wrote the script with Jennifer Kaytin Robinson. \u201cThor: Love and Thunder\u201d will open May 6, 2022.<\/p>\n

Marvel had no comment.<\/p>\n

Alexander most recently starred as the lead on NBC\u2019s \u201cBlindspot,\u201d which ran for five seasons.<\/p>\n
