{"id":70072,"date":"2020-12-12T03:34:57","date_gmt":"2020-12-12T03:34:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.thefastfashion.com\/?p=70072"},"modified":"2020-12-12T03:34:57","modified_gmt":"2020-12-12T03:34:57","slug":"president-trump-makes-christmas-eve-federal-holiday","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.thefastfashion.com\/?p=70072","title":{"rendered":"President Trump makes Christmas Eve a federal holiday"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>President Trump on Friday signed an order giving federal workers a paid day off work on Christmas Eve.<\/p>\n<p>The news was a welcome surprise for workers who expected at most a half day.<\/p>\n<p>Trump\u2019s order says, \u201cAll executive departments and agencies of the Federal Government shall be closed and their employees excused from duty on Thursday, December\u00a024, 2020, the day before Christmas Day.\u201d<\/p>\n<div class=\"e3lan e3lan-in-post1\"><\/div>\n<p>Former Presidents Barack Obama and Bill Clinton only gave half days when Christmas fell on a Friday, as it does this year.<\/p>\n<p>Obama allowed a half day in 2015 and 2009,\u00a0GovExec reported. Clinton also allowed a half day in 1998.<\/p>\n<p>Trump has been a big advocate of celebrating the holiday proudly and maintained before taking office that politically correct Democrats were waging a \u201cwar on Christmas.\u201d<\/p>\n\n<p>At a Saturday rally in Georgia stumping for\u00a0two Republican senators\u00a0in runoff races, Trump warned that his political opponents still want to erase the holiday.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLet me begin by wishing you all a very Merry\u00a0Christmas. Remember the word?\u201d Trump told the crowd. \u201cRemember? We started five years ago, and I said, \u2018You\u2019re gonna be saying \u2018Christmas\u2019 again.\u2019 We say it proudly again.
