\u201cOuter Banks\u201d star Madelyn Cline has revealed she struggled with eating disorders during her teenage years.<\/p>\n

\u201cSelf-love is a constant journey,\u201d Cline, 22,\u00a0told Women\u2019s Health\u00a0in a new body scan video for the mag. \u201cWhen I was younger I did struggle with eating disorders, specifically when I was a teenager. I think I was around 16 when I started working out a lot.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI would wake up every morning at 5 a.m. and I would work out for 30 minutes. It was super rigorous cardio every day,\u201d she went on. \u201cI started cutting calories. I would eat like six almonds for breakfast because I didn\u2019t want to counteract the cardio that I just did.\u201d<\/p>\n

She added, \u201cIt turned into not feeding myself protein and not feeding my body what it needed when I was working out so much.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Netflix star was also dancing and weight-lifting, leaving her physique malnourished.<\/p>\n

\u201cI worked out multiple times during the day. All I knew was I wasn\u2019t achieving a particular body image, and so I was angry. I was harming myself and starving myself in the process of trying to achieve that.\u201d<\/p>\n\n

Like many teens, Cline often compared herself to public figures with unrealistic body types. Fortunately, and with the help of her family, she learned, \u201cthere\u2019s nothing wrong with you, you\u2019re just not built that way, and that\u2019s perfectly fine.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cMy mom was a wonderful help in that. She would stand there in the mirror with me and we would list out things that I liked about my body,\u201d\u00a0she added.\u00a0\u201cAfter that repetition those things became solidified in my mind. I like my curves, I like my hips, and after a while I started to love my body. I became so much happier.\u201d<\/p>\n
