{"id":69662,"date":"2020-11-30T03:39:43","date_gmt":"2020-11-30T03:39:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.thefastfashion.com\/?p=69662"},"modified":"2020-11-30T03:39:43","modified_gmt":"2020-11-30T03:39:43","slug":"megan-fox-mindy-kaling-hit-alleged-ponzi-scheming-pr-exec-lawsuit","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.thefastfashion.com\/?p=69662","title":{"rendered":"Megan Fox, Mindy Kaling hit by alleged Ponzi-scheming PR exec: lawsuit"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>An alleged Ponzi-scheming public relations exec apparently ensnared actors Megan Fox and Mindy Kaling in his web of deceit, claims a Manhattan firm which says it was duped out of $2.5 million in the con.<\/p>\n<p>Hotshot marketing guru Andrew Garson, who in July 2018 was named to the \u201cTop 40 under 40\u201d list by PR Week Magazine, was\u00a0indicted on wire fraud charges\u00a0last year for allegedly conning his bosses at MWW Group to pay debts he owed vendors at a previous company, according to court papers.<\/p>\n<div class=\"e3lan e3lan-in-post1\"><\/div>\n<p>But Garson\u2019s money machinations at MWW went even further, the company charges in a $10 million Manhattan Supreme Court lawsuit.<\/p>\n<p>The Long Island man allegedly created budgets for \u201cfictitious\u201d marketing campaigns, and incurred debt to talent like Fox and Kaling on projects or budgets MWW hadn\u2019t approved.<\/p>\n<p>The scam left MWW fielding lawsuits and demands for payment the company knew nothing about, including $450,000 from Fox, according to court papers.<\/p>\n\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-69663\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thefastfashion.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/Andrew-Garson.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1024\" height=\"682\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.thefastfashion.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/Andrew-Garson.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.thefastfashion.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/Andrew-Garson-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.thefastfashion.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/Andrew-Garson-768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.thefastfashion.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/Andrew-Garson-310x205.jpg 310w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>In some cases, Garson is accused of making agreements on behalf of MWW that exceeded budgets the company had set, leaving the firm holding the bag for the overage, including $1.75 million to Kaling, who in 2018\u00a0starred\u00a0in an MWW ad campaign for Barefoot Wine, the company claims.<\/p>\n<p>Garson also misappropriated monies working on projects for various advertising clients, including $58,000 from Jack in the Box, $125,000 with Red Lobster and $270,000 from Cox Automotive, MWW charges.<\/p>\n<div class=\"e3lan e3lan-in-post2\"><p style=\"text-align: left;\"><strong><em>Adv<\/em>.<\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n<ul>\r\n \t<li style=\"text-align: left;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bagfactory.com.hk\/216\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>Sun Winning Ind Co<\/strong><\/span><\/a>: Manufacture of Canvas Bag, Recycle Bad in China<\/li>\r\n \t<li><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong><a style=\"color: #ff0000;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.theunitravel.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">TheUniTravel.com<\/a><\/strong><\/span> : Find the latest\u00a0<em>travel<\/em>\u00a0and tourism\u00a0<em>news<\/em>\u00a0from around the world.
