President-elect Joe Biden fractured his foot while playing with one of his dogs \u2014 and will need to wear a walking boot for several weeks as a result, his doctor said Sunday.<\/p>\n

The 78-year-old Democrat slipped while playing with his German Shepherd, Major, on Saturday and visited an orthopedist in Delaware for an examination on Sunday afternoon.<\/p>\n

While initial X-rays showed \u201cno obvious fracture,\u201d a subsequent CT scan \u201cconfirmed hairline (small) fractures of President-elect Biden\u2019s lateral and intermediate cuneiform bones, which are in the mid-foot,\u201d according to a statement from his doctor Kevin O\u2019Connor.<\/p>\n

The president-elect could be seen limping as he left the doctor\u2019s office to head to an imaging center for the CT scan, though he walked without a crutch or other help.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is anticipated that he will likely require a walking boot for several weeks,\u201d O\u2019Connor said.<\/p>\n

Biden and his wife, Jill Biden,\u00a0adopted Major\u00a0from the Delaware Humane Association in 2018.<\/p>\n

The pooch is set to make history as the first rescue dog in the White House.<\/p>\n\n

He\u2019s one of the couple\u2019s two German shepherds, along with Champ, who they\u2019ve had since 2008.<\/p>\n

The Bidens are also reportedly\u00a0planning on acquiring\u00a0a cat to join them in the People\u2019s House after Inauguration Day in January.<\/p>\n
