Actress Polly Draper says she was hit with a heavy dose of sexism when she applied to become a member of the Directors Guild of America.<\/p>\n

The \u201cThirtysomething\u201d star claimed that when she applied, a male member said, \u201cWe don\u2019t want to make you a member until we\u2019re convinced that you can tell there\u2019s a difference between acting and directing.\u201d<\/p>\n

Draper, 65, told Page Six she was in shock and replied, \u201cUh yeah\u201d with such incredulity that the interlocutor backtracked and hastily said, \u201cIt wasn\u2019t my question. I was asked to ask you that.\u201d<\/p>\n

Her directing career has continued with the upcoming \u201cOnce Upon a Main Street,\u201d a Lifetime Christmas movie in which she also co-stars with Vanessa Lachey and\u00a0Patrick Duffy.<\/p>\n

Draper is also the mother of musicians Nat and Alex Wolff, whom she shares with husband Michael Wolff, who served as Arsenio Hall\u2019s bandleader. Nat starred in \u201cPaper Towns\u201d and Alex in \u201cJumanji\u201d \u2014 and they both were part of\u00a0The Naked Brothers Band.<\/p>\n\n

The proud mom told us their success is, \u201cso awesome, it\u2019s so rewarding. They\u2019re such good guys. Often it happens when an actor becomes successful they lose themselves but they have such strong identities. They\u2019re wonderful actors and musicians and people.\u201d<\/p>\n
