The federal General Services Administration notified President-elect Joe Biden on Monday that the Trump administration is ready to start the transition of power.<\/p>\n

A letter from GSA Administrator Emily Murphy detailed the development \u2014 which President Trump acknowledged on Twitter.<\/p>\n

\u201cI want to thank Emily Murphy at GSA for her steadfast dedication and loyalty to our Country. She has been harassed, threatened, and abused \u2013 and I do not want to see this happen to her, her family, or employees of GSA,\u2019\u2019\u00a0Trump tweeted.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur case STRONGLY continues, we will keep up the good \u2026 fight, and I believe we will prevail! Nevertheless, in the best interest of our Country, I am recommending that Emily and her team do what needs to be done with regard to initial protocols, and have told my team to do the same,\u2019\u2019\u00a0the president wrote.<\/p>\n

The decision comes as the Michigan Board of Canvassers on Monday voted to certify the state\u2019s election results, which\u00a0were in Biden\u2019s favor.<\/p>\n

The GSA\u2019s move frees up \u201cpost-election resources and services\u2019\u2019 for a \u201cpresidential transition,\u2019\u2019 according to Murphy\u2019s letter to Biden.
\n\u201cBecause of recent developments involving legal challenges and certifications of election results, [I] am transmitting this letter today to make those resources and services available to you,\u2019\u2019 the GSA chief wrote.<\/p>\n

\u201cI have dedicated much of my adult life to public service, and I have always strived to do what is right. Please know that I came to my decision independently, based on the law and available facts,\u2019\u2019 she said.<\/p>\n

\u201cI was never directly or indirectly pressured by any Executive Branch official\u2014including those who work at the White House or GSA\u2014with regard to the substance or timing of my decision.<\/p>\n\n

\u201cTo be clear, I did not receive any direction to delay my determination,\u2019\u2019 Murphy wrote.<\/p>\n

\u201cI did, however, receive threats online, by phone, and by mail directed at my safety, my family, my staff, and even my pets in an effort to coerce me into making this determination prematurely.\u201d<\/p>\n

The GSA official added, \u201cAs stated, because of recent developments involving legal challenges and certifications of election results, I have determined that you may access the post-election resources and services described in Section 3 of the Act upon request.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe actual winner of the presidential election will be determined by the electoral process detailed in the Constitution,\u2019\u2019 Murphy wrote.
\nShe said a total of $7.3 million would be provided to Biden for the transition.<\/p>\n

The head of Biden\u2019s transition team said in a statement, \u201cThe GSA Administrator has ascertained President-elect Joe Biden and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris as the apparent winners of the election, providing the incoming Administration with the resources and support necessary to carry out a smooth and peaceful transfer of power.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis final decision is a definitive administrative action to formally begin the transition process with federal agencies.<\/p>\n
