{"id":69263,"date":"2020-11-21T13:52:42","date_gmt":"2020-11-21T13:52:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.thefastfashion.com\/?p=69263"},"modified":"2020-11-21T13:52:42","modified_gmt":"2020-11-21T13:52:42","slug":"gordon-ramsay-reportedly-donated-50k-treat-ben-watkins-cancer","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.thefastfashion.com\/?p=69263","title":{"rendered":"Gordon Ramsay reportedly donated $50K to treat Ben Watkins\u2019 cancer"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay reportedly donated $50,000 to help pay for treatment for \u201cMasterChef Junior\u201d contestant Ben Watkins as he\u00a0battled the rare cancer that claimed his life.<\/p>\n<p>Watkins died Monday at age 14.<\/p>\n<p>Ramsay donated the money back in August,\u00a0Variety reported.<\/p>\n<div class=\"e3lan e3lan-in-post1\"><\/div>\n<p>That was around the same time Ramsay and other \u201cMasterChef Junior\u201d contestants sent Watkins loving messages on video.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf you can beat me in the \u2018MasterChef Junior\u2019 kitchen, trust me, you can beat this,\u201d Ramsay said. \u201cGod bless, and lots of love, buddy.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Watkins, who starred in the reality show\u2019s sixth season, was undergoing treatment for angiomatoid fibrous histiocytoma \u2014 a soft tissue tumor \u2014 at Lurie Children\u2019s Hospital of Chicago.<\/p>\n\n<p>The promising young cooking star was one of only six people in the world who suffered from the disease.<\/p>\n<p>Anthony Edwards, Watkins\u2019 uncle and legal guardian, said his nephew \u201cnever complained\u201d despite all the pain he went through.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe were praying for a different outcome,\u201d he\u00a0told the Chicago Tribune.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut Ben\u2019s lungs could no longer give him the air he needed to breathe. It\u2019s been devastating.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In 2017, Watkins\u2019 father killed his mother, and then himself in a murder-suicide.
