Prince William had COVID-19 in April \u2014 and \u201cstruggled to breathe\u2019\u2019 at one point, sending royal aides into a terrified panic, a report said Sunday.<\/p>\n

The British royal, 38, fought to keep the news of his illness out of the press because\u00a0dad Prince Charles\u00a0and the country\u2019s\u00a0prime minister, Boris Johnson, had both just come down with the deadly contagion and William was concerned how his illness would worry the nation even more,\u00a0sources told The Sun.<\/p>\n

\u201cWilliam was hit pretty hard by the virus \u2014 it really knocked him for six,\u2019\u2019 a source told the outlet.<\/p>\n

\u201cAt one stage he was struggling to breathe, so obviously everyone around him was pretty panicked.\u201d<\/p>\n\n

But \u201cafter seeing medics and testing positive, which was obviously quite a shock given how fit and healthy he is, William was determined it should be business as usual,\u2019\u2019 the source said. \u201cHe was determined to fulfill his engagements.\u201d<\/p>\n

The prince, who is next in line to succeed his father to the throne, was treated by palace doctors and properly quarantined at his family\u2019s home, Anmer Hall, in Norfolk \u2014 all while carrying out work phone calls and video chats, the outlet said.<\/p>\n

The married dad of three later told a source at an event that he kept his illness quiet because \u201cthere were important things going on, and I didn\u2019t want to worry anyone,\u2019\u2019 The Sun reported.<\/p>\n

Now, \u201cas a result of his own experiences, he realizes absolutely anyone can catch this awful disease and knows how imperative it is that we all take this second lockdown seriously,\u2019\u2019 a source said.<\/p>\n

The Palace did not respond to The Sun\u2019s request for comment.<\/p>\n
