The lyric in question reads: \u201cHeaven sent you to me, I\u2019m just hoping I don\u2019t repeat history.\u201d Grande\u2019s cadence, however, breaks down the word \u201crepeat\u201d as individual syllables, separating the \u201cre\u201d from the \u201cpeat.\u201d Many took this as a reference to \u201cPete\u201d Davidson, and Grande\u2019s desire to avoid relationships reminiscent of their time together.<\/p>\n
