David Letterman\u2019s interview with Kim Kardashian\u00a0for\u00a0My Next Guest Needs No Introduction\u00a0\u2014 in which she opens up about working with President Trump and the O.J. Simpson trial\u2019s impact on her family \u2014 is already making waves ahead of its Oct. 21 premiere. But it\u2019s not the first time the pair have sat down together.<\/p>\n

In a\u00a0new interview with the\u00a0New York Times\u00a0coinciding with the launch of his Netflix show\u2019s third season, the veteran talk show host says he wrong to write off\u00a0Kardashian\u00a0as a vapid reality star and butt of many of his\u00a0Late Show\u00a0jokes. According to her IMDb profile, the star made six appearances on his show between 2008 and 2013.<\/p>\n

\u201cOh, I was at the head of that list,\u201d he says of Kardashian long being fodder for comedians like himself. \u201cI can remember when she would be booked on the show, it was like, I don\u2019t know anything about her, and I\u2019ve never seen her show.\u201d<\/p>\n\n

It was when he met with Kardashian\u2019s husband,\u00a0Kanye West, for a Season 2 episode of\u00a0My Next Guest Needs No Introduction\u00a0which aired in 2019 that he realized, \u201cOh, I\u2019ve misjudged this woman.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cAfter we met with Kanye West, I had a long talk with her at their home, and I started to think about how I had used her as a joke and regarded her as someone not to be taken seriously,\u201d he says. \u201cI found that that impression was not the end of the story. She had a family. She has\u00a0her prison reform program. I won\u2019t comment on the ease of being married to Kanye West. And if she can keep a show like that on the air for all those years, that\u2019s an accomplishment. If you can stay in business on television that long, good for you.\u201d<\/p>\n

In addition to Kardashian, Season 3 of\u00a0My Next Guest Needs No Introduction\u00a0sees Letterman meet with Dave Chappelle, Lizzo and Robert Downey Jr.<\/p>\n
