After more than a decade, Kanye West has finally revealed the true motive behind crashing\u00a0Taylor Swift\u2018s MTV VMAs acceptance speech in 2009:\u00a0God ordered him to do so.<\/p>\n

\u201cGod has a calling on all of us and he uses us in different ways,\u201d West, 43,\u00a0told Nick Cannon\u00a0during an appearance on the \u201cCannon\u2019s Class\u201d podcast.<\/p>\n

The infamous incident occurred while the then-20-year-old Swift was receiving an award for best female video for \u201cYou Belong With Me.\u201d Out of the blue, West ran up onstage and snatched the mike to shout out Beyonc\u00e9\u2019s \u201cSingle Ladies\u201d video, which he felt was more deserving of the accolade.<\/p>\n

\u201cYo Taylor, I\u2019m really happy for you, I\u2019ma let you finish,\u201d he shouted, \u201cbut Beyonc\u00e9 had one of the best videos of all time! One of the best videos of all time!\u201d<\/p>\n

Reflecting upon the incident 11 years later with Cannon, the \u201cJesus Talks\u201d singer unapologetically explained: \u201cIf God ain\u2019t want me to run onstage and say Beyonc\u00e9 had the best video, he wouldn\u2019t have sat me in the front row.\u201d<\/p>\n\n

\u201cI would\u2019ve been sitting in the back and they would\u2019ve made it the first award and he wouldn\u2019t have made it so ridiculous,\u201d the\u00a0rapper-cum-presidential candidate\u00a0added, \u201cbecause I had never heard of this person before and \u2018Single Ladies\u2019 is one of the greatest videos of all time.\u201d<\/p>\n

He summed up his spotlight-stealing like this: \u201cRight now, God is giving me the information and he ain\u2019t give me no other information \u2026 So that means he wants me to say this now.\u201d<\/p>\n

That wasn\u2019t the only time West invoked the Lord\u2019s name during the wild interview. The fashion mogul also claimed that God made him realize that abortion was \u201cblack genocide\u201d so he could spread the word among his followers.<\/p>\n
