The troubling thing about this is that many states are experiencing spikes in new COVID-19 cases every day.<\/p>\n

In order to ensure the health and comfort of your employees and patrons, it’s imperative that you create a safe environment at work.<\/p>\n

Let’s look at five ways that you can make your workplace safer and more positive during these uncertain times!<\/p>\n

  1. Encourage Handwashing<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    As we all know, handwashing is one of the best COVID-19 precautions. According to the CDC, we need to wash our hands for at least twenty seconds at a time and make sure that we’re really scrubbing our palms, fingers, the backs of our hands, and under our nails. Make sure your employees have the opportunity to wash their hands several times a day.<\/p>\n

    In addition, you may want to provide bottles of hand sanitizer that your employees can keep at their desks or in their pockets for quick sanitation.<\/p>\n

    1. Sanitize Surfaces Often<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

      In addition to keeping our hands clean, we need to keep surfaces clean! That includes countertops, desks, doorknobs, light switches–anything employees and patrons touch many times throughout the day.<\/p>\n

      Use antibacterial wipes and sprays to clean. Wear gloves while cleaning and dispose of them as soon as you are finished.<\/p>\n

      1. Require Masks When Inside<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

        Wearing a mask is one of the best ways to protect others from the spread of germs. When everyone inside of a building is wearing a mask, it creates what is sometimes called herd safety. Plus, masks discourage people from touching their faces which is one of the many ways that people can contract the virus.<\/p>\n

        1. Create Social Distancing Work Stations<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

          Do your best to maintain six feet of distance between your employees and between patrons. Ditch the group seating for individual work stations and make sure each desk is six feet apart.<\/p>\n

          If your business is open to the public, use a combination of signs, floor tape, and close monitoring to make sure that patrons aren’t going too close to one another or to your employees. You may also want to consider opting for a half capacity model in which you only allow a certain number of patrons in at a time.<\/p>\n

          1. Keep Up With Your Safety Supplies<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

            Are you prepared for minor injuries? Make sure that you are stocked up on all first aid refill supplies<\/a><\/strong>. That way, your employees will not have to travel to a high-risk area like the emergency room in the event that they receive a minor injury at work.<\/p>\n
