And to say it to a 17-year-old kid, they should be ashamed of themselves.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Under a new plan to keep customers and employees safe, Lawrence said he posted on the\u00a0shop\u2019s Facebook page\u00a0that all orders must be placed one hour in advance. However, many\u00a0patrons didn\u2019t follow the new rules, according to Lawrence, and appeared to forget their manners after weeks of social distancing.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPeople have forgotten how to treat other human beings in the six or seven weeks that they\u2019ve been confined to their homes,\u201d he told the station. \u201cThey have no clue how to respect other human beings.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Lawrence said he will\u00a0close\u00a0the shop\u00a0to the general public until he comes up with a new operating plan.<\/p>\n<p>In the hours following Lawrence\u2019s decision to close, he received hundreds of messages of support from the community.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI was very impressed by how your staff stayed patient and kind,\u201d one user wrote. \u201cYou guys were doing everything you could and I do not blame you for not reopening. Know there are plenty here that will support you and accept your service however we can get it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The parlor filled limited orders on Saturday, which Lawrence said \u201cwas a vastly improved operation\u201d in an update on the shop\u2019s Facebook page. He said patrons \u201cfollowed the rules and it worked,\u201d with orders being placed over an hour ahead of time, and some even a day prior.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe will continue to tweak our efforts and eventually try again to open full speed ahead,\u201d Lawrence\u00a0wrote. \u201cThank you for the incredible outpouring of love and support from so many. It truly means so much to me at this time.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Under Gov. Charlie Baker\u2019s stay-at-home\u00a0order, restaurants have been able to offer take-out services while dine-in services are temporarily barred to contain the spread of coronavirus.<\/p>\n<p>Non-essential business closures and the stay-at-home order\u00a0remain in effect through at least May 18.<\/p>\n<p>Nearly 77,000 coronavirus cases and\u00a04,840 deaths were reported in Massachusetts as of Saturday, according to\u00a0state health department data.<\/p>\n\n<div style=\"font-size: 0px; height: 0px; line-height: 0px; margin: 0; padding: 0; clear: both;\"><\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The owner of a Massachusetts ice cream parlor closed its doors just one day after reopening amid the coronavirus pandemic in response to how angry customers mistreated a teenage\u00a0employee.
