The teen previously suffered a similar serious attack three years ago, and both of her parents closely monitored her afterward, the dad said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe dealt with it swiftly, and I became aware of how deadly the illness was,\u201d her dad said.<\/p>\n<p>So when her breathing Tuesday became labored, her parents realized the teen was in urgent need of help.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMy wife noticed that she was having trouble breathing, and she turned to me, and she said, \u2018Andy, get her to the hospital right away,\u2019 \u201d her father said.<\/p>\n<p>Cops tried to save the teen by performing CPR in a police vehicle as they rushed her to Mount Sinai Hospital, but she died four hours later, authorities said.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-62558\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thefastfashion.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/Laurel-Griggs-2.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"664\" height=\"442\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.thefastfashion.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/Laurel-Griggs-2.jpg 664w, https:\/\/www.thefastfashion.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/Laurel-Griggs-2-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.thefastfashion.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/Laurel-Griggs-2-310x205.jpg 310w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 664px) 100vw, 664px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Laurel made her Broadway debut in 2013 alongside the actress Scarlett Johansson in \u201cCat on a Hot Tin Roof,\u201d\u00a0according to her IMDB page. She then joined the Tony-winning production of \u201cOnce,\u201d where she had the longest run in the role of Ivanka.<\/p>\n<p>Dozens of loved ones \u2014 including classmates and entertainment industry fixtures \u2014 gathered on Sunday at a Chelsea cafe, where a remembrance service was held to celebrate her life.<\/p>\n<p>Her aunt \u2014 a former actress, Pamela Mandell \u2014 said her niece \u201cgot a lot of inspiration\u201d from her and started taking acting classes at age 5.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cShe was a doll, all she wanted to do is make people laugh,\u201d Mandell said Sunday at the service.<\/p>\n<p>While appearing in hundreds of Broadway performances, Laurel took on a full workload at the Clinton School in the Chelsea neighborhood, her relatives said.<\/p>\n<p>Then days before her death, she auditioned to attend the famed Laguardia High School of Music and Art and Performing Arts.<\/p>\n\n<p>\u201cShe did in 13 years what most people can\u2019t do in a lifetime,\u201d her grandfather, David Rivlin, told The Post. \u201cShe was incredibly multi-talented, and her life was a balancing act.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Broadway dimmed its lights Friday in the young thespian\u2019s honor as fellow cast members took to social media to remember her, relatives said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMy @oncemusical family tragically lost one of our youngest members this past week,\u201d wrote actor Lucas Papaelias\u00a0in an Instagram post. \u201cWe are heartbroken &amp; devastated\u2026 We will never forget this sweet, talented, young soul.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n<div style=\"font-size: 0px; height: 0px; line-height: 0px; margin: 0; padding: 0; clear: both;\"><\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Young Broadway actress Laurel Griggs\u00a0suffered a fatal asthma attack\u00a0while doing homework in her family\u2019s Manhattan apartment \u2014 calling out to her father that she didn\u2019t \u201cfeel so good,\u201d kin said Sunday.
