Freshman New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez snapped back at Ivanka Trump\u2019s criticism of her Green New Deal proposal Tuesday \u2014 saying she knows what she\u2019s talking about when it comes to wages, because she \u201cactually worked for tips.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cAs a person who actually worked for tips & hourly wages in my life, instead of having to learn about it 2nd-hand, I can tell you that most people want to be paid enough to live,\u201d the socialist darling tweeted.<\/p>\n

\u201cA living wage isn\u2019t a gift, it\u2019s a right. Workers are often paid far less than the value they create.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Bronx-born congresswoman was referring to Trump\u2019s comment to Fox News Tuesday that Americans want to earn their paychecks, not take a handout.<\/p>\n\n

\u201cI don\u2019t think most Americans, in their heart, want to be given something,\u201d the White House adviser said. \u201cPeople want to work for what they get.<\/p>\n

\u201cSo, I think that this idea of a guaranteed minimum is not something most people want. They want the ability to be able to secure a job. They want the ability to live in a country where there\u2019s the potential for upward mobility.\u201d<\/p>\n

Ocasio-Cortez followed up with: \u201cImagine attacking a Jobs Guarantee by saying \u2018people prefer to earn money.\u2019 ???\u201d<\/p>\n

The lawmaker argued that productivity among American workers has grown over the years \u2014 but pay hasn\u2019t. <\/p>\n
