Davis, who\u2019s based in the Theater District, started her business Erin Davis Wingwoman in 2014.<\/p>\n
Unlike traditional matchmakers, who charge clients an annual fee and send clients on one-on-one dates, Davis charges $100 an hour and accompanies her proteges to events. There, she personally introduces them to eligible singles from her database. She also offers image consulting, date coaching and fitness training.<\/p>\n
\u201cA lot of [matchmakers] deal with divorced clients that have had children and are older, so I feel my \u00e0 la carte model is getting a really young, cool demographic,\u201d Davis tells The Post. \u201cYou\u2019re not hiring an old-school yenta,\u201d she says.<\/p>\n
The love guru started her business to help pay her way through grad school at the New School, where she\u2019s studying international affairs. Through word of mouth, Davis\u2019s database has grown to encompass 1,200 singles. Now, she says, she receives more than 100 applicants a month \u2014 90 more than she can take on.<\/p>\n
Davis says she has had three couples marry through her service so far, and says she considers it \u201ca great success\u201d to have never had to work with anyone for longer than a month, \u201cbecause they don\u2019t need me anymore after that.\u201d<\/p>\n
Accompanying clients on dates does have one major possible drawback: there\u2019s the risk that Davis, who considers herself \u201ca professional dater,\u201d might outshine her client. So, to fend off unwanted advances, the entrepreneur bought a cheap, massive engagement ring from Burlington Coat Factory to let people know she\u2019s off the market.<\/p>\n
\u201cNo one can tell in a dark room that it\u2019s not real,\u201d she says. \u201c[It] looks intimidating, and people are blinded by the cubic zircornia.\u201d<\/p>\n\n
