In a new interview, Jerry Seinfeld <\/span>stands by his decision to turn Kesha down cold for a hug \u2014 three times!<\/p>\n

The comedian unintentionally got people laughing this week by refusing a hug from Kesha on the red carpet at A Night of Laughter and Song at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C., Monday. He was giving an interview when the \u201cTik Tok\u201d singer broke in, and, well, by now you (and all your Twitter friends) know what happened.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m 63, <\/span>I don\u2019t know every pop star,\u201d Seinfeld explained to Extra<\/i> <\/span>on Thursday. \u201cI don\u2019t know everyone.\u201d<\/p>\n

He added, \u201cI was right in the middle of an interview, it was a little off.\u201d<\/p>\n

Besides that, Seinfeld said he\u2019s not one to give hugs lightly, as anyone who watched <\/span>Seinfeld<\/i> <\/span>knows. And certainly not to \u201ctotal strangers.\u201d (At the time of Hug-gate 2017, Seinfeld told his interviewer, \u201cI don\u2019t know who that was.\u201d Kesha fans did not appreciate that.)<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen you get to be my age and you\u2019ve done a couple things, you have your own reality,\u201d Seinfeld said. \u201cIn my reality \u2026 I don\u2019t hug a total stranger. I have to meet someone, say hello. I gotta start somewhere. Hug isn\u2019t first moment of a human, two humans. I never did that.\u201d<\/p>\n

Seinfeld gets it that people might think they know him after watching him on TV, but still.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m so flattered by that, but the TV only works one way. I can\u2019t see who\u2019s watching.\u201d<\/p>\n

In his defense, that <\/span>appears<\/em> <\/span>to be true.<\/p>\n

Seinfeld also noted that once he and Kesha had a proper introduction inside the D.C. event, they had a moment.<\/p>\n

\u201cShe was very nice about it, we laughed about it,\u201d the <\/span>Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee<\/i> <\/span>star revealed.<\/p>\n

But they did not hug it out.<\/p>\n\n
