The Florida-born singer first cultivated a young fanbase when her role as redhead Cat Valentine on children\u2019s Nickelodeon series Victorious at the age of 17<\/p>\n

At just 23, singer and actress Ariana Grande has amassed a global fanbase of 106 million Instagram users and 45 million followers on Twitter, being particularly popular with young teens.<\/p>\n

The Florida-born singer, who is of Italian descent, first cultivated a young fanbase when her role as redhead Cat Valentine on children\u2019s Nickelodeon series Victorious at the age of 17 cemented her as a teen idol.<\/p>\n

She said at the time that setting a good example to her young fans as one of the perks of her job, saying: \u201cKids look up to me. I get to be a role model, and being a good role model is definitely one of the best parts of this.<\/p>\n

“One of the most important things that someone who is blessed can do is give back.\u201d<\/p>\n

Having starred on Broadway musicals after moving to New York at 15, the young star always had designs on putting her four octave vocal range, frequently compared to Mariah Carey\u2019s, to use in music.<\/p>\n

In 2013, at the age of 19, her debut album had topped the US charts, and reached the Top 10 in the UK.<\/p>\n

In 2014, she scored her first UK No. 1 with Problem – a collaboration with rapper Iggy Azalea. The accompanying video has been viewed almost 1 billion times on YouTube.<\/p>\n

By 2015, she went on her first European tour, performing at British arenas for the first time, telling the Mirror she was \u201coverwhelmed, shocked and grateful\u201d to be launching her music career here at such large capacity venues.<\/p>\n

Stints hosting Saturday Night Live garnered a popularity with older demographics, but Ariana was conscious of maintaining her likeability with younger audiences – wearing cat or bunny ears over \u201csexy outfits\u201d to \u201cadd a bit of playfulness\u201d, as she explained to the Mirror in 2014. She has dubbed her alter-ego Super Bunny as a result.<\/p>\n

A vegan for four years, the singer is an outspoken animal rights activist, and owns seven dogs – becoming embroiled in a row with P&O Ferries, along with her mother, over their treatment of her animals while touring the UK in 2015.<\/p>\n
