Jordan Edwards, a 15-year-old from Balch Springs, Dallas, was shot and killed by a Texas police officer Saturday night. He was unarmed at the time and the unnamed officer has ben placed on administrative leave, <\/span>WFAA reports.<\/p>\n

What Happened?<\/h2>\n

Edwards was in a vehicle that the officer shot at, with one of the shots hitting Edwards, who was sitting in the front seat. The car was in a residential of Balch Springs, a suburb of Dallas.<\/p>\n

Edwards was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Officers were responding to a report of intoxicated teenagers.<\/p>\n

A press release from police read: \u201cThere was an unknown altercation with the vehicle backing down the road towards the officers in an aggressive manner. An officer shot at the vehicle, striking a front seat passenger. The individual was transported to the hospital where we was pronounced deceased.\u201d<\/p>\n

Edwards had been leaving the party and his family\u2019s attorney said the car he was in was not the car police had been responding to. The attorney, Lee Merritt, wrote on Twitter:<\/p>\n
