<\/p>\nThe ISIS terrorist behind tonight’s shooting in Paris was previously jailed for 20 years for an attack on police, it has emerged.<\/p>\n
<\/u><\/u>Identified as Karim C. and using the \u2018nom de guerre\u2019 (war name) \u2018Abu Yousuf the Belgian\u2019, the 39-year-old had also made dark threats to kill more police using Telegram, the instant messaging service.<\/p>\n
<\/u><\/u>The France-born killer lived in Chelles, a commuter town close to Paris in the Seine-et-Marne department.<\/p>\n
<\/u><\/u>Sixteen years ago, in 2001, he opened fire on two police officers after being caught in a stolen car, \u2018grievously hurting two of them\u2019, according to police sources.<\/p>\n
He also attacked a third man.<\/p>\n

Karim C. was sentenced to two decades inside a high security prison in 2003 following the attacks in Roissy-en-Brie, also in Seine-et-Marne.<\/p>\n
But he was let out early following an appeal ruling, giving him the freedom to carry out tonight\u2019s attack.<\/p>\n

A raid on his home later found guns and ammunition, said intelligence sources.<\/p>\n
<\/u><\/u>Karim C. had targeted a parked patrol car full of traffic control officers working to the Paris prefecture.<\/p>\n
The officer killed was at the wheel and was having an evening snack at the time of his death.<\/p>\n
<\/u><\/u>A statement released through the Amaq News Agency, the news outlet associated with the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant, said Isis was responsible for tonight\u2019s attack in Paris.<\/p>\n
The terror organisation named the attacker as Abu Yousuf \u2018the Belgian\u2019.<\/p>\n\n
