David Beckham <\/span>has confessed to sending the shocking leaked <\/span>emails <\/span>that have rocked his millions of fans worldwide.<\/p>\n

But he has told friends they were written \u201cin the heat of the moment\u201d after he was passed over for a knighthood \u2013 and that some of them had been \u201cdoctored\u201d.<\/p>\n

The former England and Man United star was alleged to have branded the honours committee \u201cunappreciative c***s\u201d.<\/p>\n

But he insisted: \u201cI don\u2019t care about being knighted.\u201d<\/p>\n

And sources say he is determined to continue working with UNICEF, insisting he had not helped the charity just to boost his chances of becoming a Sir.<\/p>\n

Beckham, 41, was spotted on Saturday watching son Brooklyn at a London skate park after the wheels of his knighthood bid were pulled from under him by a website leak of emails from him and his close aides.<\/p>\n

Friends say he claims the content of some of the emails has been changed.<\/p>\n

The leaks reveal he wrote to long-time PR man Simon Oliveira after missing out on being a Sir in 2013.<\/p>\n

After working for charities, including children\u2019s charity UNICEF, and helping to front the London Olympics he had been a hot favourite to get the honour.<\/p>\n

Referring to the New Year Honours OBE for opera star Katherine Jenkins, who had confessed to taking drugs in the past, Beckham is said to have raged: \u201cKatherine Jenkins OBE for what? Singing at the rugby and going to see the troops plus taking coke. F***ing joke.\u201d<\/p>\n

Blasting the honours committee, Beckham, who won an OBE in 2003, said: \u201cI expected nothing less. It\u2019s a disgrace to be honest and if I was American I would of got something like this 10 years ago.\u201d<\/p>\n

In another leaked email he appears to refuse to donate $1m to an event run by UNICEF, declaring \u201cit\u2019s my f***ing money\u201d.<\/p>\n

The revelations caused a storm on Twitter, with users tearing into the global icon, believing his UNICEF work was just glory-seeking.<\/p>\n

Among those attacking him was TV presenter Piers Morgan. He branded the multi-millionaire \u201crepulsive\u201d for his rant against singer Katherine Jenkins.<\/p>\n

He added: \u201cOh. My. God. RIP Brand Beckham\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n

And later he tweeted: \u201cNobody will be envious of David Beckham by tomorrow. They will all be sickened by him\u201d.<\/p>\n

But a close friend of Beckham said: \u201cHe is very calm at the moment because he knows the great work that he has done for UNICEF. But he is just saddened that people would question all of that work.<\/p>\n

\u201cGenuinely, he wasn\u2019t as vitriolic as that, but you do say some things in private and in the heat of the moment.<\/p>\n

\u201cTo be honest, he does feel that he has given so much to his country. And sometimes you say things in private that anyone would say and you don\u2019t really mean it.\u201d<\/p>\n

Referring to an email about honours in which he is alleged to have written \u201cunless it is a knighthood, f*** off\u201d, the pal said: \u201cWhile he was frustrated in those emails, he was over it the moment he sent them.<\/p>\n

\u201cGetting the knighthood is not what his work is about. He doesn\u2019t care if he gets a knighthood or not.\u201d<\/p>\n

UNICEF figures largely in the emails, and those are the most damaging to his image as a caring children\u2019s ambassador.<\/p>\n

In one released by the website Football Leaks, Beckham is said to have demanded UNICEF pay \u00a36,685 for a business class flight to visit children affected by Typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines \u2013 despite his sponsors paying for a private jet.<\/p>\n

Yet the charity\u2019s chiefs have shelled out huge sums in the last five years \u201cmanaging high profile supporters\u201d thought to include ambassadors like Beckham.<\/p>\n

A close adviser to the star also reportedly said in one email that his UNICEF work produced a \u2018halo effect\u2019 for him.<\/p>\n

Another showed PR man Oliveira suggesting he put a million dollars (\u00a3800,000) into a UNICEF prize-giving dinner in Shanghai.<\/p>\n

The leaks show Beckham replied: \u201cI don\u2019t want to put my personal money into this cause. To pour this million into the fund, is like putting my own money in.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf there was no fund, the money would be for me. This f***ing money is mine.\u201d<\/p>\n

But a friend of the star said: \u201cThe one thing David is very proud of and feels can\u2019t be faulted is his work for UNICEF. He has not only donated his own money, he has raised millions to help vulnerable children around the world.<\/p>\n

\u201cMore importantly he has worked with the charity over the last 15 years.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe fact that there are these hackers who are selectively in some instances cheekily doctoring some of that information saddens him.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe will be going about his daily life with his kids. He has got work commitments coming up and he has constant work with UNICEF.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere is always work he is doing with the charity, whether that is dinners or field trips. There are always a lot of things planned.<\/p>\n

\u201cNothing will deter him or stop him from continuing with UNICEF. He is incredibly proud of what he is doing.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe sad thing is he is being vilified when he has done such great work. It\u2019s the first time an ambassador in UN history has his own fund. Why these people want to detract from such great work is unbelievable.\u201d<\/p>\n

A statement released by the charity on Saturday said: \u201cUNICEF has become aware of media reports relating to 7: The David Beckham Unicef Fund.<\/p>\n

\u201cSome reports relate to alleged private correspondence between our ambassador and other parties, which we have not seen and cannot comment upon.<\/p>\n

\u201cDavid Beckham has been a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador since 2005.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs well as generously giving his time, energy and support to help raise awareness and funds for UNICEF\u2019s work for children, David has given ­significant funds personally.\u201d<\/p>\n

As the scandal threatened to engulf the star, it was business as usual for his wife, Victoria who tweeted her 11.3 million followers about her latest fashion range just hours after the emails surfaced.<\/p>\n

Beckham left the US on Thursday afternoon aboard a British Airways plane after partying with Poppy ­Delevingne at the West Hollywood hotspot The Friend.<\/p>\n

Travelling first class on the flight, alongside The Voice coach Will.I.Am, he landed at Heathrow shortly after 11am on Friday, hours before the story broke.<\/p>\n

Airport onlookers said he looked \u201crelaxed\u201d. And he seemed unperturbed on Saturday as he watched Brooklyn, 17, in action at a skateboard park.<\/p>\n

Last night PR expert Mark Borkowski said: \u201cIf you\u2019re being flown all over the world the costs will rack up and the basic problem is that these things have slipped out.<\/p>\n

“It\u2019s not helpful but, then again, people don\u2019t realise the complexities that go into celebrities being involved with charities.<\/p>\n

“Even these game shows that you see on TV, where people play for charity, they still get paid.\u201d<\/p>\n

Meanwhile Vicky Browning, chief executive of the Association of Chief Executives of Voluntary Organisations, said: \u201cHis relationship with Unicef has been incredibly helpful for the charity in terms of raising money and raising awareness.\u201d<\/p>\n

She added: \u201cIt\u2019s not unreasonable for people whose time is highly valuable to get sensible recompense for their expenses.\u201d<\/p>\n

A spokesman for Beckham said last night the leaks were \u201coutdated material taken out of context from hacked and doctored private emails from a third party server giving a deliberately inaccurate picture\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n

He added: \u201cDavid Beckham and UNICEF have had a powerful partnership in support of children for over 15 years. The David Beckham 7 Fund specifically has raised millions of pounds and helped millions of vulnerable ­children around the world.<\/p>\n

\u201cDavid has given significant time and energy and has made personal financial donations to the 7 Fund and this commitment will continue.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe and UNICEF are rightly proud of what they have and will continue to achieve together and are happy to let the facts speak for themselves.\u201d<\/p>\n
