If you eat many sugary or acidic foods, you are probably familiar with teeth sensitivity. Try to reduce these foods altogether if you can.

If you still want to enjoy yourself, make sure you enjoy your foods with a glass of water so that the sugar and acid do not sit on your teeth, but are instead diluted or rinsed away. This easy practice can go a long way in protecting your teeth and gums.

Prioritize seeing your dentist regularly. It is recommended to go twice a year for a check-up.

If you are practicing your daily habits like brushing, flossing, and eating foods that aren’t too sugary or acidic, your teeth should be in great condition. However, you want to get your teeth professionally cleaned every 6 months to make sure you don’t have any cavities or infections.

If a cavity goes unchecked, it can turn into a root canal which can be painful. Don’t let a small problem go worse by avoiding a check-up.

If you can, find a dentist that will also perform an oral cancer screening on you every visit. If you ever run into an issue, you will be able to diagnose it early on so that it can be treated more easily.

Your dentist will also be able to recommend you to an orthodontist if you need to move or correct your teeth. This is especially important for adolescents, but it is also essential for adults who need braces or Invisalign to straighten their teeth.
