“I think [having a child] is a big moment and I think it’s one that can be embellished with jewelry. It’s a keepsake, even if it’s something they don’t wear,” the Detroit native told Page Six Style.
Take the diamond-studded 14-karat gold “True” nameplate he made for client Khloé Kardashian. “Khloé will forever look at her True necklace and it’s a beautiful memory,” he said.
Khalife also works regularly with Ashley Graham, and is already thinking about pieces he will make for the pregnant model upon the arrival of her first baby, a boy, with husband Justin Ervin. She’s due just after the holidays.
“Out of all of my clients, she and Christina [Milian] are so sweet. She’s such a real one. She texts me all the time.”
Beyond just nameplates and initials, Khalife is working on new ways to personalize jewelry for stylish parents, specifically “icon” Kim Kardashian, whose assistant recently commissioned a custom gold piece.
“It’s all going to be from the kids,” he described, adding that they’ve discussed doing thumbprints or profiles of her kids’ faces. “It’s going to be interesting. She sent me a huge PDF.”
